Thread Lift

A thread lift is a non-surgical face or neck lift, using absorbable threads or sutures to reposition sagging tissues, and with some threads stimulate the body's collagen production. A tiny entry is made, before fine threads are inserted and advanced along pre-marked contours of the face. The threads dissolve naturally in the body over time. Once the threads are in place, your body starts to produce new bundles of collagen around each thread and this in turn brings about a subtle yet effective regeneration of the tissues. The results are different for each person, but are very natural, giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is no scarring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

Marking Up Threadlifts

There are two main types of thread lift: PDO threads and Silhouette Soft threads. There are several differences between the two but the greatest difference is the effect each has on collagen stimulation. Silhouette Soft features an absorbable thread and cones which are unique to the treatment. This means that while the lifting effect is immediate and discreet, the threads and cones stimulate the body's production of type 1 collagen. Type 1 collagen will help restore and maintain shapeliness to the face, creating a fresh, glowing appearance. A Silhouette Soft treatment will typically require anywhere between 3 to 6 threads per side of the face to achieve the desired results, depending on your needs. PDO threads use different technology, mainly tiny barbs, to provide a lifting effect. This treatment requires a number fo threads to be inserted in the treatment area to achieve the desired result. PDO threads may be more effective if the skin is heavier, and requires a greater lift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pre and post treatment care?

There are a variety of post-treatment recommendations to aid in recovery and improve results:

  • Apply a cold pack immediately after procedure if required
  • No make-up should be worn for the first 24 hours
  • Sleep face up, elevated on pillows for up to five nights
  • During the first two weeks after treatment you should not undergo dental surgery and you must avoid facial and beauty treatments
  • You should also avoid any impact exercise for two weeks after the treatment and be gentle when cleansing your face
Longevity of results?

Following a thread lift, you will experience an instant lift. However, the results don’t end there. The treatment stimulates the body’s own collagen production. This has the effect of restoring the youthful appearance of the face in the most natural-looking and flexible way possible. The treatment ultimately lasts for 12 -18 months.

Threads - How long until treatment results are fully appreciated?

The collagen stimulation continues to improve for three months’ post-treatment.

Contraindications/common side effects?

The great thing about a thread lift is that it offers quick recovery together with excellent results. The treatment requires a minimum amount of non-invasive procedure time and leaves no scarring. Immediately after your treatment you may notice, mild redness or only mild slight puckering of the skin, which almost always resolves in 24-48 hours. There may be a small amount of post-treatment bruising which will resolve after a few days. Rarer complications include inflammation, uneven skin surface, face asymmetry and prolonged pain in the cheeks and temples.

Cost?

Costs depend on your doctor and the amount of threads you may need. As a guide, a Brow Supporting Lift may cost from £1,500 while a Lower Face and Neck Lift may cost from £2,500.
